Kinds of Jobs

Kinds of Jobs

Why must people go  to work? People work seriously to get money. They use the money to fulfill they needs. Some people work as government civil servants. They receive the salary from the government. Other people work for private enterprises. They get the salary from their own boss.
However, others are not employed by the government or the private enterprises. They usually create and run their own business. For example, some people open stalls selling food. Others open shops, sell daily needs in the market, sell snacks and so on. In a big city like Jakarta children sell newspapers and magazines or polish shoes.
In villages, most people work as farmers, carpenters or labourers. Whatever job we do requires skills. Those who have no skills or knowledge usually work for odd job. They do everything with their strength with relatively small salary. They usually work under the intruction of a neighbour. For example, repairing roof or fences, digging a hole for rubbish, climbing up the coconut tree to pick some fruits, etc. When there is no neighbour needing their help, they have no money. Some of them go to a river to collect sand and to sale.

What will you be in the future? Will you be an officer, a teacher, a doctor, a farmer or a mechanic? Those all need skills and knowledge. If you don’t, you will not be a skillful worker. Consequently, you will be an odd job worker, working solely with your strength,  with limited income.
